Durange & Silverton Railroad Durango CO June 23 2008 |

The first train at 7:30 AM was just a little too early, but caught the second departing train of the day out of Durango at 8:15 AM with D&S 486 (K-36 Class built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in Philadelphia PA in 1928) pulling as it crosses East 15th Street about to head over, then along, the Animas River toward Silverton. |
Meanwhile, back at the depot, warming up in the bullpen was D&S 473 (K28 Class built by American Locomotive Works in 1923). |
The third train of the day at 9:00 AM was powered by D&S 480 (K-36 Class built by BLW in 1928) as it pulls out of the station and across West 9th Street at Narrow Guage Avenue while my youngest gets a closeup shot. |
Finally it was 473's turn. |
The conductor directs the engine back against the train. |
Shortly after, the last departure of the day was at 9:45 AM. It would be very quiet in town for most of the day as the first train back would not arrive until 4:45 PM, the last at 7:00 PM. |
