Amtrak Keystone Corridor Merion and Wynnewood PA April 19 2008 |
|
The past six weeks have seen the Keystone State blanketed with campaign coverage of the upcoming primary battle between Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination for president. Harkening to an earlier time, Senator Obama rode a special train starting from Philadelphia's 30th Street Station to the state capital Harrisburg, stopping for rallies along the way at Wynnewood, Paoli, Downingtown and Lancaster. A video of the train at Overbrook Station can be found on YouTube. |
The power for the train was a pair of Amtrak P42DC's 99 and 98. |
Three Amfleet I's, coaches 82701 and 82704 as well as cafe car 48156. The train was held short of Merion Station for several minutes to allow the outbound SEPTA local to make its station stops at Merion and Wynnewood. |
Bringing up the rear was private car Georgia 300, festooned with red, white and blue bunting and an OBAMA '08 drumhead. |
The train waited on Track 3 at Wynnewood for a couple hours while the rally was held on the outbound side of the station (Senator Obama is shown under the banner standing on the stage as Senator Bob Casey Jr. to the left of him provides an introduction). |
