Amtrak Northeast Corridor Cornwells Heights and Philadelphia PA March 10 2008 |

Normally, even with the apparent head start, Conrail SAA light engine move FJ10 on Track 1 would not stand a chance along side the approaching Acela Express on Track 3. |
But Train 91 the Silver Star is running a couple blocks ahead of the Acela and so 2155 is getting nothing but yellow lights, while NS GP38-2 5269 is running as fast as allowed ... |
inevitably, though, the Acela will win as it passes FJ10 just east of Cornwells Heights. Having finished its work on the Eddington Siding for the day, the former PC/CR 8058 is heading for the 0 Track at Holmesburg which connects to its home base at Frankford Junction. |
A little later, FJ10's brother, FJ4, sits at Holmesburg Junction on the Bustleton Branch on the other side of Holmes Tower from where SEPTA R7 local 738 is making its stop. Unlike FJ10 however, FJ4 needs to cross over all tracks to get over to the 0 Track, and it will sit waiting for a window between both eastbound and westbound traffic. |
Nothing says urban rustbelt setting like lots of utility poles, rusty billboards, abandoned siding bridges and the ubiquitous junkyards littered with burned car fenders and wrecked trailers. The clean paint on NS GP38-2 5313 (former PC/CR 8131) looks out of place among the decay. |
Finally, after a few Amtrak moves in both directions, FJ4 get the light and "races" across. |
