SEPTA Main Line North Wales PA January 10 2008 |
|
With RL1A 61 due for its quarterly maintenance, they replaced it with its twin, RL1A 60. |
Taken from Main Street crossing, the high rail truck is between Main Street and Second Street, the wire train is blocking Walnut Street and approaching Third Street, and the SEPTA local, having just completed its station stop, is between Walnut Street and Beaver Street. That is 5 grade crossings in about 2100 feet. |
The high rail is there to assist in the "threading the needle" operation with the messenger wire. |
Starting from the wire train, the wire is run through the first pulley, then pulled to the front of the train and draped over the nose of 60, to be handed off to the man in the bucket. |
After securing the wire, the bucket truck pulls out a length of wire past the next catenary support. |
Then backtracks to loop it through the next pulley, and continue the process to the next support. |
