CSX Bethlehem Branch Souderton and Hatfield PA December 20 2007 |
|
Due to the conditions of the branch, they usually don't allow the six axles north of Lansdale, but with CSX 6160 sidelined with air problems, B738 got permission to run up to Telford and back with the big units. The return is pictured here just after passing the summit in Souderton with ex-Conrail SD40-2's 8865 (aka "Ol' Blue Nose"), the former CR 6521, leading ... |
and CSX 8867, the former CR 6523, trailing. |
Crossing Bergey Road and passing the former Reading Railroad signal at Milepost QAJ 34.1, which translates to 34.1 miles from Reading Terminal. |
Trailing was CSX GP38-2 2813, the former CR 8279. |
As they rolled into Hatfield, the sun popped out and they stopped and used 2813 to pick up a few cars from the Hatfield Warehouse siding before continuing home. Hard to believe the track in the foreground in this and the previous two pictures was once the Reading Company's Bethlehem Branch southbound main (currently out of service between Schwab Road and north of Township Line Road). |
