Railfan Pictures of the Week - 12/30/2007
Amtrak Northeast Corridor Bristol PA November 28 and 29 2007 |
|
On the afternoon of November 28 2007, Conrail local WPBS3 out of Morrisville PA was shoving a few lumber cars into the lumber yard on Track 5 when they derailed just south of Grundy Interlocking on the NEC. |
It was nearly sunset when this eastbound SEPTA local passed WPBS3 powered by NS GP38-2 5284 in Conrail Quality paint. WPBS3 had already uncoupled from the derailed cars and moved over to Track 0 to continue its work. |
The next day the two empty cars had been rerailed and removed and the loaded car shoved into the lumber yard, but the rail was still in need of some attention. |
In the meantime, WPBS3 still had work to do, as it heads west on Track 1 toward Bristol. |
It had 5284's sister NS GP38-2 5280 leading and ... |
NS SW1001 2103 in Horsehead scheme was trailing. |
And a stone's throw east, up on the Bristol Industrial Track, Conrail WPFJ10, with GP15-1 1537 out of Frankford Junction, was interchanging cars with ESPN, the new name for the old EPRY properties. |
Also of note is that all the engines are former Conrail units, which is the usual situation due to equipment requirements for operating on the NEC. |
