SEPTA Lansdale Station Lansdale PA October 20 and 21 2007 |
|
Just two weeks after it was taken out of service, SEPTA began the removal of the watchbox at Lansdale Station. Originally the borough of Lansdale wanted the structure to remain in place, but SEPTA wanted it gone so they agreed to dismantle it intact and deliver it to the borough's possession for installation at an undetermined location in town. SEPTA also will put a plaque at the spot where watchmen had been guarding the crossing for the past 151 years. The watchbox in the quiet before the storm. |
Just before midnight, a final inspection before the dismantling commences. |
Shortly after the last train, Train 1578 to Doylestown, crosses over Main Street at 12:16 ... |
the work begins. |
