SEPTA Doylestown Branch Link Belt Station Hatfield PA March 3 2007 |
The first train out of Doylestown, Train 1511, almost made it to Link Belt Station when the wires just dropped on it about 6:45 AM. First on the scene was a SEPTA bucket truck which got on the rails at the Route 309 grade crossing and, upon arrival, began the repairs. |
While the wire was secured and the train inspected for damage, the wire train with RL1A 61 was called and made it up to the scene just after 11:00 AM. They used the wire train to pull the disabled train out of the way, shoving it on the siding that fortuitously was at the station. |
Now with access to the track with the damaged catenary, the wire train went to work. |
Later that afternoon, with its job done, the wire train coupled back up to the four Silverliners and took them for a ride down to Wayne Junction (train pictured here just north of Lansdale Station approaching the soon-to-be-closed Fifth Street grade crossing). |
You can see the family resemblance between former Jersey Arrow now wire train camp car 601 with its functional center door and SEPTA's Silverliner IV's with their vestigal center doors. |
SEPTA Main Line Melrose Park Station Melrose Park PA March 8 2007 |
One of the two SEPTA "Bomber" sets (nicknamed as such due to their Bombardier coaches) woke up dead in SEPTA's West Trenton Yard, and the 651 yard crew out of Wayne Junction was dispactched in BL1500 #50 to retrieve it. The recalcitrant engine was AEM-7 2301. |
Interestingly, the cab unit was 2401. |
