CSX Trenton Line Woodbourne and Neshaminy Falls PA January 19 2007 |
If you are close enough to a local's home yard, you can frequently see the same train coming and going, but catching a through freight doing the same is a much different matter. Fortunately, in a case of "shipping coal to Newcastle", coal is now being shipped by boat to Morrisville PA off the Trenton Line. From the port there, it is loaded into mostly CSX and NYC hoppers for its trip to the Tompkins Cove power plant along the River Line in New York. The train symbol for this run is V804, here pictured approaching CP Woodbourne and Woodbourne Yard which leads to the Fairless Branch and eventually dockside. However, the switch at CP Fairless Jct is a trailing point for westbound trains off the main, so instead of pulling into the east end of Woodbourne Yard and running around there ... |
the train pulls down onto the controlled siding at CP Berry some 8 miles west. |
After Q172 passes them at CP Berry, they run the power around the train and head back east to the now leading switch at CP Fairless Jct to complete this leg of the journey. |
A much easier catch is C770, which later that same day heads east from the Bucks County Industrial Park (BCIP) through SEPTA's Woodbourne Station with B36-7 5832 leading ... |
and then minutes later back west into the yard, now with GP38-2 2684 on the point. |
