NS Morrisville Line Fort Washington PA January 25 2006 |
The work on the new bridge over Route 309 has progressed enough that NS brought in a couple of pieces of MOW equipment to start securing the newly laid rail onto the newly dropped ties. Since the new track is not yet connected to the current line, they used a crane to move the pieces from one track to the other (in model railroading, especially during operating sessions, this maneuver is often called "the Hand of God"). First the cables are attached ..... |
... then a little lift and they are off, with some guidance .... |
... and they just walked it over and are ready to place it on the rails, but wait ...... |
... it's facing the wrong direction, so just spin it around ..... |
.... and gently ease it back down. Piece of cake. |
After backing up to the current western end of the new track, they started work almost immediately. The new bridge should be ready by the end of next month. Meanwhile, it was time to get the crane out of the way so 67Z can pass. |
