SEPTA Norristown Line Conshohocken PA October 23 2005 |
SEPTA and local emergency services scheduled an emergency evacuation drill for Saturday, but due to weather it was rescheduled for Sunday. It simulated a derailment with wires down, a fire, multiple severe or fatal injuries and, to top it off, a hazardous material spill. |
The crew of SEPTA 60 were "victims" and had to be extricated from the engine. |
The hazardous waste was represented by plastic drums on flat car SPAX 2101. |
Properly geared emergency personnel investigated the hazmat situation. Special considerations were given to wind direction and appropriate decontamination procedures. |
SEPTA Silverliner III 235 and IV 300 represented the passenger component of the drill. |
The condition of the "victims" were assessed on board before they were removed from the train. |
