CSX Lansdale Yard Lansdale PA and New Hope & Ivyland Railroad Warminster PA |
Recently retired Union Pacific C30-7 531, now newly acquired New Hope & Ivyland 531, arrived just in time for the Fourth of July 2002, here pictured on July 1 2002 in Lansdale PA waiting for CSX to move it the last mile (actually 15, but who's counting) to its new home .... |
.... and the next time I saw it was just before sunset on Christmas Day 2004, parked north of SEPTA's Warminster Station, still waiting for its NHRR maroon paint. |
As part of the renumbering of Union Pacific engines required as a result of the absorption of CNW and SP into UP in the late 90's, the C30-7's, built by GE between 1977 and 1980 and originally numbered in the 2400-2539 range, were renumbered into the 400-531 series. UP 531 aka UP 2538 was one of the last operating for UP and the next to last unit in the series (2539 was involved in a wreck in 1986 and scrapped in 1988). |
