CSX Lansdale Yard Lansdale PA October-December 2004 UPDATE January 2005

After a steady diet of CSX power, some strangers have been frequenting Lansdale PA this fall, in fact three different engines in the last three months, and all from Alstom.

Update: Make that four in four months with the addition of FURX 3011 (see below).

Arriving in October was GCFX SD40-2U 3087, which started out life a Canadian Pacific SD40 5512 before being upgraded to SD40-2 specs, then traded to East Coast Motive Power in 2000 and later rebuilt by Alstom. November 1 2004

November brought us CEFX 3137. An SD40-2U in an SD45 body (note flared radiators), as an SD45R it wore two different numbers for Southern Pacific (SP 7485 and SP 9044) before being retired in June 1999 and rebuilt by Alstom in 2000. December 11 2004
Now in December, it's GTW 5953. It is an SD40-3 that started out as CN SD40 5006, later was rebuilt as KCS 6636 and was renumbered into the GTW roster in early 2002. One of twenty on a nine year "Power by the Mile" lease from Alstom to Canadian National for use in the United States side of their operations, how it wound up here is anyone's guess. December 16 2004

The latest visitor is FURX 3011 which arrived on January 5 2005. Built by EMD for Canadian Pacific Railway as SD-40 CP 5505, it was sold to Alstom in 1999 and rebuilt to SD40-2 specifications for First Union Rail the next year.

The foreign power is still outnumbered 3 to 1 by CSX 6041, 6095 and 8593. December 18 2004
