Railfan Pictures of the Week - 01/25/2004

CSX Trenton Line Oxford Valley and Langhorne PA January 23 2004

SEPTA is replacing the wire on Track 2 (the normal freight track) from CP Wood and CP Trent, which means they are single tracking. With SEPTA locals scheduled to depart southbound around :10 after the hour and northbounds arriving about :40, the window to run a northbound freight is from :25 to :40 after the hour, a southbound :40 to the top of the hour. This usually means trains held at Woodbourne or Trent, and back to back freights.

SEPTA 60, a Republic Locomotive RL1, was power on the wire train today. SEPTA had been leasing an RS18 from the West Chester Railroad (here and here), but it was returned last month. SEPTA's SW1200's also see duty on this train.
SEPTA train 345 with trio of Budd Silverliner II's passes the wire train at Stoney Hill Road.
Just behind the northbound MU was light power move X037, headed to Conrail Shared Assets at Oak Island in North Jersey. The train was a real mixed bag with a FURX, a mother/road slug pair, and at least three different CSX paint schemes (four if you count the ex-Conrail engine).
X037 passing the wire train. The last three units were in Bright Future (CSX 766) , Dark Future (CSX 5119) and Yellow Nose Stealth (CSX 2256) paint schemes.
Next up was K276 with CSX 692 and HLCX 6073 pulling a string of empty trash containers.
Usually a mixed train, K276 was all trash, as was the K277 that came south 4 hours later.
