Railfan Pictures of the Week - 04/20/2003
SEPTA Broad Street Subway March 1994 |
Many railfan photographers are the fair weather sort, only shooting in perfect sunlight. Well, this NRHS sponsored ramble was not for them, as most of it was spent in the tunnels of the Broad Street Subway. The "Orange Line" cars from Kawaski had supplanted them, but these old girls still functioned, almost 70 years after their creation. If memory serves, 166 and 234 were Broad Street cars, while 1025 was a Bridge car that was used on the Benjamin Franklin Bridge before it was replaced with the Budd-built PATCO cars. |
