Railfan Pictures of the Week - 11/10/2002
In the early 1990's, the Route 23 Trolley service on Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia was suspended while the roadway and track was rebuilt. The area in the photographs is just north of Wayne Junction. The first two pictures show the road before the work was done, the last two during the construction. Ironically, the Route 23 Trolley was replaced by buses in 1992, and except for a brief period when the restored Chestnut Hill Trolleys ran and the occasional charter, the track is unused. c. 2002 John P.
