SEPTA Route 15 Richmond Street Philadelphia PA May 8 2010 |
When four lanes of traffic is not enough .... PCC II 2322 at the southern end of Richmond Street waiting to turn west onto Girard Avenue, and yes, the Dodge to the right is in the special "right hand turn in front of a trolley and two more lanes of traffic from what isn't even a lane" lane. |
This section of Richmond Street, which runs along the former Reading Company Port Richmond yard, will be closed and relocated for the I-95 reconstruction. The new Richmond Street will be moved east onto former railroad property and the Route 15 trolleys temporarily cut back at Girard Avenue. According to the I-95 Girard Avenue construction update, SEPTA will be bustituting through the construction zone but trolley service will re-established after completion. Construction is scheduled to begin in the Spring of 2011. |
The infamous "truck-eating Richmond Street bridges" will be replaced with the clearance increased by lowering the new roadway to 14 feet. |
The Richmond Street loop just north of Allegheny Avenue will be the province of buses only for at least a couple of years, but hopefully this shot will be possible again in late 2013. |
