Railfan Pictures of the Day - 11/04/2009
SEPTA Main Line Lansdale PA November 3 2009 |
This morning former Pennsylvania Railroad Silverliner II 257, built by the Budd Company at their Red Lion Plant in Northeast Philadelphia in 1963, was engulfed in flames just east of Overbrook Station while leading R5 Train 4712 from Thorndale to Center City. The consist included former PRR Silverliner III 222 and 236 in the middle and Silverliner 260 on the hind end. The day before, 257 led deadhead train D522 into Lansdale and the train turned as 517. Later that night, the same cars as Train 594 terminated at Pennlyn due to the Gwynedd bridge replacement project and turned there as Train 591, and became Train 4712 the next morning. |
