SEPTA Main Line Lansdale PA June 2 2009 |
Train 4524 crosses over Broad Street in Lansdale with no problems. |
The crossing at Main Street is another matter. Seems the driver of the minivan is a little confused about what side of the gate to be on when a train is approaching. |
As 4524 slows, the driver decided to back up and drive around the gates where the train was not going to be, a sound decision finally. |
By this time 4524 had come to a dead stop, and then proceeded onto the Doyletown Line without further incident. |
The same could not be said for the crossing gate which the minivan backed into. With the gate down, the minivan turned the entire gate mechanism so that now it would not fully retract, blocked by the crossing light gantry. And since the signals are connected to the gates, it meant headaches in downtown Lansdale. |
Lansdale police directed traffic until a maintainer arrived to fix the gate. |
