Amtrak Northeast Corridor Frankford Junction Philadelphia PA December 15 2008 |
|
Amtrak Northeast Regional Train 184 passing the new switch at Frankford Junction. |
The Shore Interlocking westbound signals for Track 1 and the Delair Bridge Track have been moved east which allows moves like this: Atlantic City bound Train 4623 with NJT 4211 pulls east of the connection while Train 4620 waits to head west toward 30th Street Station. |
NJT 4800 leads Train 4620 while Train 4623 waits on the Frankford Junction curve. |
Here you can see where the former connection from the Delair Bridge to Shore Interlocking to the left has been cut, and where the new connection to Track 1 occupies the space of the old Frankford Junction Station eastbound platform. |
The eastbound signals have not moved, so Train 4623 still has to reverse down to west of Shore Tower (just to the left) in order to get to the bridge. A SEPTA Market Frankford El train passes overhead as a SEPTA R7 Trenton Local on Track 2 prepares to pass Train 4623. |
Train 4623 rolls through the new automated switch from Track 1 to the approach to the Delair Bridge. The new switch to the CSAO freight line in the foreground is a hand thrown switch. |
