SEPTA Chestnut Hill West Line Philadelphia PA October 31 2008 |
After seeing the crowds at Roslyn Station on the R2 Warminster Line, Ed Tyrrell decided to take a chance and found a lot more elbow room on the Chestnut Hill West trains. |
This was probably due to the proximity of the stations on the Chestnut Hill East and West lines to other options such as the Route 23 bus, which runs right in front of the station in Chestnut Hill. |
Of course an uncrowded train makes for a much happier passenger. |
The crowds were just building when Ed made his way through Suburban Station, which was closed in the hour before the parade kicked off due to the crush of passengers and their inability to make it through the station areas to the street level. Trains were instructed to discharge at 30th Street Station and Market East Station only to allow the crowd to thin, and the station was reopened just before noon. |
Upon their return, the joyous fans proceeded in an orderly fashion, something not seen for the most part earlier in the day. As the old cliche goes, "a good time was had by all". |
