Amtrak Northeast Corridor Eddington Station Bensalem PA September 15 2008 |
Diesels are not a common sight on this section of the NEC, and these even moreso. |
SEPTA BL15 number 51 and RL1A number 61 heading east to Trenton on an errand. |
Their mission: to pick up nine retired NJT Comet 1 cars that SEPTA has purchased for use on their push-pull sets. Eight of the cars will be rehabbed, with one car (second car seen here, the one with the missing windows) to be used for parts. Horns on three of the cars identify them as cab control cars, but only two will be used as such (to be numbered 2460 and 2461). |
The train, shown passing Conrail FJ10 with CSX 4451 on Eddington Siding and Amtrak Keystone 648 on Track 2, is headed directly to SEPTA's Frazer Yard (via the Pittsburgh Subway at Zoo and Keystone Corridor) where the work will be done before they are released into service. |
