Railfan Pictures of the Day - 12/28/2007

SEPTA Main Line and Doylestown Branch Lansdale PA December 26 2007

First group hard at work was a bunch of visiting railfans, who during their 20 minute layover in Lansdale, gather at the parking lot grade crossing to snap some shots of their outbound train as it heads toward Doylestown.

Next up was a CSX high rail truck doing an inspection run on the CSX Bethlehem Branch. As you can see here at Bergey Road, it is pretty easy to figure out which track is still in service.
Also working for the first time this week was the B738 crew, using the big axles from C746 (former Conrail now CSX SD40-2's 8867 and 8865) to work the yard.
Later in the day, the CSX signal crew was busy putting in wiring for a cab signal test loop on the Bethlehem Industrial Track.
The loop has an official location, MP QAC 1.00, as marked on the relay box. Although seen previously on maps and other documents, nothing on the physical plant of the CSX Bethelhem Branch has been deemed worthy of the QAC marking until now.
Although on Christmas Eve a SEPTA crew started the work for the new discharge ramp off of Station Track 2, it appears that Santa must have given them the rest of the week off, so it will have to wait until the new year.
