SEPTA/NS/CSX Stony Creek Branch PA Norristown PA April 12 2007 |
This morning around 4:45 C746 derailed on its return trip from Philadelphia up the Stony Creek Branch to Lansdale. Four box cars of the 31 car train derailed at the Sterigere Street grade crossing but remained upright. Fortunately for SEPTA, the train had just cleared SEPTA trackage at CP Elm and did not affect any commuter operations on the R6 Norristown Line. |
Although it was a CSX train operating on SEPTA owned tracks, the portion where the derailment occurred is maintained by NS. Here a lone NS truck holds down the fort until the cavalry arrives ... |
in the form of Terra, whose four trucks were led to the scene by police escort, here going the wrong way on Harding Boulevard in order to make the wide turn onto Sterigere Street. |
Two sidewinders on lowboys were brought in for the work, along with two flatbeds loaded with additional equipment. |
