SEPTA Market-Frankford Line Philadelphia PA February 27 2007 |
Joe Butler took a quick trip on the West Philly end of Market-Frankford El just prior to its 100th birthday and provided the photos and text. The last remaining portion of original structure between 55th and 62nd Streets is this section at 59th Street. This will most likely be among the first sections to be replaced when construction resumes March 9th at 8:00 PM. |
Approaching 60th Street on the "new" El. |
WASH ME! Looking out the door at the under-construction 60th Street Station. Progression of construction continues as the lights have now been hung, and the cameras for the operators to check on the loading and unloading have been installed. The station should reopen by May or June. |
Approaching 63rd Street with an eastbound train at the platform. 63rd Street Station was supposed to be replaced already but a dispute with the contractor has delayed this project until 2008-2009. |
Approaching Millbourne. The platform at Millbourne was originally intended to be temporary and was also called 66th Street originally. This platform and station will be replaced by 2009. |
