Conrail Lansdale Yard Lansdale PA August 1995 |
Back in 1995, a fixture of Lansdale industry, American Olean Tile (aka "The Tile") was still in business. Whenever their ship came into the Port of Philadelphia loaded with the clay used to make the tile, Conrail would rustle up a number of their coal hoppers to transport the raw material up to the works. Conrail coal hopper CR 483794 is a former RDG HTe class hopper with its heritage indentification mostly obscured by paint, but you can still make out the READING in speed lettering and the ORE SERVICE stencil to the upper left is still intact. |
Now here is a modeling detail that would be interesting. Conrail coal hopper 490533 class H1C evidently had a run in with something that scarred all its side ribs, almost looks like what a kid would do to a picket fence with a stick. |
CR 472893 is a former PRR H43 coal hopper that has had some serious patch work. |
Conrail coal hopper 489932 class H1C is an original Conrail car, and it shows. |
