Juniata Terminal Company Philadelphia PA June 1990 |
Back in June of 1990, Juniata was in the process of restoring a few ex-Pennsylvania Railroad cabin cars (or cabooses in non-Pennsy language). N5C 477863 (PC/CR 23069) looks almost new in its Freight Car Red paint with Chrome Yellow cupola denoting east-west pool service, as it would have looked in the early 1960's. |
Two others were still works-in-progress, PRR N8 478141 (PC/CR 23214) and another unknown cabin car, probably an N5 or N5B. |
Of course, to move them around, you would need a PRR switcher, and NW2 9251 fit the bill. This engine actually started out life as Detroit Terminal 109 and later became CR 9199 before it finally wore Brunswick Green. It was sold but is still working for a living (sadly not in its PRR paint) on lease from Northern Illinois & Wisconsin Railway Corporation as NIWX 9251. |
