Railfan Pictures of the Day - 12/20/2005
SEPTA Lansdale Station and CSX Yard Lansdale PA December 15 and 17 2005 |
Among the non-activity in the Lansdale area, the new crossover for Dale Interlocking. |
The new crossover would be installed just south of the station, between the two trains pictured. It would allow trains like the southbound waiting in the station to run through Dale at the same time as northbound trains heading for Doylestown, like this one with Silverliner III 231 trailing. |
Nothing happening with the wye in Lansdale, still torn up from the derailment in March 2005. |
And while the announcement hasn't been made yet, expect another year or so before the Ninth Street crossing is opened and the Fifth Street crossing is closed. The new crossing at Ninth was built for access to the North Penn Business Center and the original opening date was December 31 2004, but even after a one year postponement, no improvements have been made on the NPBC side and this remains a crossing to nowhere. As part of the agreement between Lansdale Borough and SEPTA, the grade crossing at Fifth Street will be closed when the new one is put in service, otherwise there would have been 3 grade crossings within five blocks. |
