SEPTA Doylestown Line Hatfield PA November 29 2004 |
At 1:31PM Doylestown-bound SEPTA train #554 struck a vehicle at the Walnut Street grade crossing in Hatfield PA. Silverliner IV 413 was the lead MU with married pair 445-446 behind. This is the view looking north on Walnut Street just before they moved the train at 3:13 PM. |
After the train was taken back to Lansdale, the vehicle was visible. The boxcars are at Lansdale Warehouse, probably the busiest shipper in the Lansdale area. The car was removed around 4:00 PM and operations on the R5 Doylestown Line returned to normal shortly after. |
The 1996 Oldsmobile Alero was totaled, but the driver was reported to have suffered only minor injuries. |
The affected train was parked on the Bethlehem Industrial Track at Lansdale Station. |
Damage to 413 was relatively minor, confined to the trap and step below the engineer's seat. |
