During repair and after repair shots of the wire |
From what I understand, a crow got into an electrical switch up in West Trenton NJ and caused a short. The resulting power surge ran down to CP Wood, where it fried wires on Track 2 just north of the interlocking, between the signals. As of 13:30 wire train with SEPTA 60 was repairing the damage. No SEPTA service between Woodbourne and West Trenton, with all nb trains turning at Woodbourne. No CSX freight movements between CP Wood and CP Trent from 08:00 and 15:00 with nearest trains Q175 holding at CP Trent and K276 at CP Nesh. At 14:20 heard NI telling Q172 to run into Woodbourne Yard and wait for SEPTA to finish, so they must have run around K276 at CP Berry. C770's conductor, whose train was across the tracks servicing the Bucks County Industrial Park, was to hand throw the switch to put them on Yard Track 2. They patched up the wire at CP Wood around 14:30, and Q172 and Q175 had already passed by the time I got to Township Line Rd north of Wood about 15:45. Was just in time to catch K276 with 5005 and two friends running up Track 1. CSX maintainers were at Township Line Road fixing the west gate, which evidently had been taken out by a motorist between 13:30 and 15:30. Next up was a CSX track car, which rolled up to CP Wood waiting for SEPTA clearance to go north. After a sb SEPTA local on Track 1 and a nb also up Track 1, track car followed a third SEPTA local on Track 2. Q300 was to follow at 17:00. Everything back to normal by the evening rush hour.
