NORM Events & Schedules

This is a listing of Museum Member events for the years 2018 and 2019 (see the Museum's newsletter, The Northern Light, for more details).

Museum Schedule of Events

Public Walking Tours. Museum grounds are open to the public on Saturdays, from Saturday, May 25th through October 12th, from 10 AM to 4 PM. Tours will be conducted every hour on the half hour starting at 10:30 AM and running through 3:30 PM. Member volunteers are needed to help guide visitors through the Musuem.

Streetcar Rides. The public may ride a streetcar on the museum's demonstration track beginning on the fourth Saturday of May (May 25th) through the second Saturday of October (October 12th), weather permitting. Rides will be conducted in June through September on the second and fourth Saturdays. Fares are $4.00 for Adults and Teenagers, 13 and older; Children 6 to 12 years old are $2.00; and Children 5 and younger are free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets may be purchased in the Museum Store. The rides will commence on the hour beginning at 11:00 AM, with the last ride of the day occurring at 3:00 PM.

Scheduled Work Sessions. Every Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM. For other days, contact Walt Stoner at 330-769-5501. Volunteers of all ages, genders, and skills are needed.

Media Nights are on the first Saturday of March, May, August, October, and December at 9:30 AM. Please note the change of DATE and TIME. Media Nights are held at the Hinckley Township Hall at 1410 Ridge Road in Hinckley, Ohio. The Hall is located in the southwest corner of the intersection of State Routes 3 and 303. Please enter from the rear of the building. Doors open by 9:00 AM. Media Nights are free and open to the public.

Directors Business Meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of April through September. Meetings are held at the Museum. No meetings will be held in October through March, except by special notice. Meetings start at 7:30 pm and meetings are open to all members.

  • November 7th, 2018 - Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. Media Night. Program: Member Blaine Hays will present a program on the early efforts of preserving local trolleys, including the acquisition and development of Trolleyville.


  • December 3rd, 2018 - Monday at 7:00 PM. Please note the change of day. Media Night. Program: Member Ralph Pfingsten will present his special program for Christmas. It should prove to be interesting and entertaining. Don't miss it!!


  • January 26th, 2019 - Saturday. N.O.R.M. Historical Displays at the Medina County History Fair, Medina Library, 210 South Broadway, Medina, Ohio. 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM .


  • March 2nd - Saturday at 9:30 A.M. Media Night. Program: Member Dale Rothenberger will present part 1 of a program on "The Trams, Trains, Metros, and Interurbans of Germany" from his trip with the Electric Railroaders Association in 2018.
  • March 16th and 17th - Saturday and Sunday, N.O.R.M. Historical Displays and Museum Store at the Railfest Div 5 NMRA Train Show, Lakeland Community College, I-90 and S.R. 306, Exit 193, Kirtland, Ohio. 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM both days.


  • April 7th - Sunday. N.O.R.M. Historical Displays and Bookstore at the Medina Model Railroad & Toy Show, Medina County Fair Grounds, Medina, Ohio, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
  • April 23rd - Tuesday. Directors Business Meeting at the Museum.
  • April 27th - Saturday. Orientation session for the Museum's Tour Guides, Operating Personnel, and Museum Store Personnel at 10 a.m. in Car 1225 at the Museum.


  • May 4th - Sarurday at 9:00 A.M. Media Night. Program: Member Dale Rothenberger will present part 2 of a program on "The Trams, Trains, Metros, and Interurbans of Germany" from his trip with the Electric Railroaders Association in 2018.
  • May 19th - Sunday. Medina County Spring Dandelion Drive. The museum will host participating visitors with walking tours - there will be no streetcar operation.
  • May 25th - October 12th - Saturdays. Walking tours begin at N.O.R.M., each Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM.
  • May 25th - Saturday. Ride a streetcar on the museum's demonstration track, weather permitting. Fares are $4.00 for Adults and Teenagers, 13 and older; Children 6 to 12 years old are $2.00; and Children 5 and younger are free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets may be purchased in the Museum Store. The rides will commence on the hour beginning at 11:00 AM, with the last ride of the day occurring at 3:00 PM.
  • May 28th - Tuesday. Directors Business Meeting at the Museum.


  • June 8th - Saturday. Ride a streetcar on the museum's demonstration track, weather permitting. Fares are $4.00 for Adults and Teenagers, 13 and older; Children 6 to 12 years old are $2.00; and Children 5 and younger are free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets may be purchased in the Museum Store. The rides will commence on the hour beginning at 11:00 AM, with the last ride of the day occurring at 3:00 PM.
  • June 22nd - Saturday. Ride a streetcar on the museum's demonstration track, weather permitting.
  • June 25th - Tuesday. Directors Business Meeting at the Museum.


  • July 13th - Saturday. Ride a streetcar on the museum's demonstration track, weather permitting. Fares are $4.00 for Adults and Teenagers, 13 and older; Children 6 to 12 years old are $2.00; and Children 5 and younger are free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets may be purchased in the Museum Store. The rides will commence on the hour beginning at 11:00 AM, with the last ride of the day occurring at 3:00 PM.
  • July 20th - Saturday. The N.O.R.M. Annual Meeting at Baldwin Wallace University. Details to follow.
  • July 23rd - Tuesday. Directors Business Meeting at the Museum.
  • July 27th - Saturday. Ride a streetcar on the museum's demonstration track, weather permitting.
  • July 27th - Saturday, N.O.R.M. members' outing to the Northeast Ohio Live Steamers, 3654 Lester Road, Medina. Rides from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.


  • August 3rd - Saturday at 9:30 A.M. Media Night. Program: Member Ralph Pfingsten will present a program on the "Berea Sandstone Quarries of Northern Ohio."
  • August 10th - Saturday. Ride a streetcar on the museum's demonstration track, weather permitting. Fares are $4.00 for Adults and Teenagers, 13 and older; Children 6 to 12 years old are $2.00; and Children 5 and younger are free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets may be purchased in the Museum Store. The rides will commence on the hour beginning at 11:00 AM, with the last ride of the day occurring at 3:00 PM.
  • August 18th - Sunday, N.O.R.M. Members' Picnic at the Museum, 1:00 PM. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided, please bring a salad or dessert to pass.
  • August 24st - Saturday. Ride a streetcar on the museum's demonstration track, weather permitting.
  • August 27th - Tuesday. Directors Business Meeting at the Museum.


  • September 14th - Saturday. Ride a streetcar on the museum's demonstration track, weather permitting. Fares are $4.00 for Adults and Teenagers, 13 and older; Children 6 to 12 years old are $2.00; and Children 5 and younger are free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets may be purchased in the Museum Store. The rides will commence on the hour beginning at 11:00 AM, with the last ride of the day occurring at 3:00 PM.
  • September 24th - Tuesday. Directors Business Meeting at the Museum.
  • September 28th - Saturday. Ride a streetcar on the museum's demonstration track, weather permitting.


  • October 5th, - Saturday at 9:30 A.M. Media Night. Program: Member Blaine Hays will present a program on "Cleveland Transit System Accidents and Interurban Disasters."
  • October 5th and 6th - Saturday and Sunday. N.O.R.M. Historical Displays and Museum Store at the Great Berea Train Show, Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds in Berea. Both days: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • October 12th - Ride a streetcar on the museum's demonstration track, weather permitting. Fares are $4.00 for Adults and Teenagers, 13 and older; Children 6 to 12 years old are $2.00; and Children 5 and younger are free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets may be purchased in the Museum Store. The rides will commence on the hour beginning at 11:00 AM, with the last ride of the day occurring at 3:00 PM. This willl be the final operating day for 2019.


  • December 7th - Saturday at 9:30 A>M. Media Night. Program: Member Blaine Hays will present a program on "The Trolleys of New Orleans."
