Operating 1:160 scale models of Düwag M6 (6 axle, 2 section) articulated trams were introduced by Hobbytrain by Lemke in Germany in 2015. Three original models had been announced in 2011, but the first did not actually appear for sale until late 2015. Made in South Korea, these models feature working directional headlights and taillights, as well as orange (LED style) illuminated destination signs. Only one end truck is powered, with no flywheel. The models feature an unwired sprung metal pantograph. They were offered in both DC and digital+sound options. Models with an "S" suffix in the product number are equipped with the digital+sound decoder.
These are nice-looking models, but unfortunately suffer from a few mechanical issues at the articulation joint, at least in my experience. The multiple fine wires between the two sections break easily, either breaking away from the circuit board wire traces or because the thin wire itself is too stiff and brittle. These connecting wires are factory-soldered to the thin copper traces, not to wider soldering pads, making them nearly impossible for the typical modeler to repair. Compounding this problem and possible contributing to it, the plastic pin (a press-fit, thumbtack-like piece) that holds the articulation joint together can fall out and the chassis sections pull apart, even when the model is still in its package. One of my models arrived this way.
Hobbytrain introduced a longer Düwag M8 (8-axle, 3 section) model in 2017. The M8, in my experience, seems to benefit from better construction and wiring. - R. D. Kerr
