Fujimi Models (Fujimi Mokei Co. Ltd.) of Shizuoka City, Japan is a manufacturer of a diverse range of plastic model kits. In N scale (1:150) it has produced models of historic Japanese temples and castles, monorails and other items, including model kits of Sapporo Streetcar 3300 Series trams (five trams built in 1998-2001). The best known of these is the Snow Miku tram, a special annual decoration applied to one tram as part of Sapporo's winter festival, beginning in 2011. Each year a theme is announced, and a design is competitively chosen from submittals to decorate a real streetcar over the winter months. Fujimi has then issued a static model kit replicating the design, beginning in 2013 with the 2012 and 2013 Snow Miku designs. These and the later 2014 model kit came with pre-decorated one-piece body shells. Since then, the kits are undecorated and come with "full wrap" decals of the design. The earlier kits included an unpainted 1:150 model kit of the well known Sapporo Clock Tower building. Fujimi has also produced unpainted kits with detail decals, so modelers can paint and decal a 3300 series tram in Sapporo Streetcar's standard green and white paint scheme.

Sapporo Streetcar (Sapporo Shiden) used tram #3303 for the real Snow Miku tram in 2012, then #212 from a earlier different-looking series in 2013, and #3302 in the years since then; however, the model kit for 2013 uses Fujimi's 3300 series shell.
After Tomytec introduced its TM-TR04 motorized chassis to power some of its own Tetsudou Railway Collection static tram models, modelers discovered that it could be used, with just some minor work, to power Fujimi's Sapporo tram model kits to make operating models. - R. D. Kerr |
