Wrecks & Derailments

Unfortunately there are times when railroad equipment either doesn't stay
on the rails like it should, or it gets "crunched" somehow...
here are a few such incidents that I've been able to photograph.

"Squished" Intermodal Car

Someone said, "kick it", and they did...
This is what happened.

A Wreck with a John Deere Tractor

I only got pictures of the locomotive,
but the tractor was a total loss!
Here's a hint people...
don't try to beat a train at a crossing,
and don't park on one either!

NS e6692 "Mystery"

Taken early in the a.m. in mid-
March 2002.  I don't know
what happened, maybe someone
can let me know?!?

When crews don't communicate!

A conductor from another railroad threw a switch
for an opposing movement and their relief didn't
get a full briefing as to what they had done,
then... didn't double check their route...
and this is what happened!

When track isn't what it should be...

A car to be turned on the turntable at
Sharonville Yard sits waiting in the house track
to be re-railed after running off the rail
during a shoving move.

When track REALLY isn't what it should be...

A shove onto the IB Lead in Sharonville, OH.
leads to a rather "surprising" ending.
Luckily there are crews in the yard ready and able
to make a short story out of this kind of predicament.

When a Valmet meets a pickup truck!

A chance meeting in the pigyard in Cincinnati, OH.
between an NS driver and a Valmet driver
has some interesting results!
