CP 1704 was among the first of a 35-unit order by Canadian Pacific. CP 1700-1706 were to be constructed in 2005 for testing. If the tests of the first seven units is satisfactory, the remaining 28 units (CP 1707-1734) were to go into production between 2006-2008. From CP Railway press release 3-14-2005. Contract terminated in late 2006. From Railpower prese release. |

CP 1704 was moved to CAD in Lachine and stripped in early 2007, emerging as BNSF 1205 in primer, with new trucks and no fuel tank. The unit moved south in late April 2007 for conversion to fuellcell-hybrid. See the website of the Fuelcell Propulsion Institute for more details. From photo evidence and discussions. |

Unit moved to Mid America Car in Kansas City for paint, then unveiled to the public in Topeka, KS in July 2009. Moved to Pueblo, CO. According to newspaper articles when the unit was unveiled, the 1205 would be testing at TTCI until early September or so, then would move to Los Angeles for further testing in service. |
