As of Sept 1999, over half of the area of the GIRR is still undeveloped wasteland. The track is in, but there are no structures or vegetation of any kind except for the occasional weed. Once the GI Mountain mine complex gets built, development attention will be redirected to the "wasteland." The first structure will be a two story warehouse to replace the paint bucket that now protects the main electrical junction block.

After a nearly a year, development of the town has begun. The warehouse has been built along with some businesses and a house. A passenger station is probably next.
