Ghinda Photo Courtesy of Renato Gaudio Studying this image and discussions with Renato have lead me to undestand
that the left hand unit is headed toward Massawa. The other two are
heading toward Asmara. This is taken during Italian Colonial days
and replaces a lower resolution version which was previously here.
There is much to be gleaned from this picture. As a result, I have
given it its own page.
Ghinda Station looked little different in 1962 than it did when Jerry
Pry's pictures were taken. The architecture is similar to the Asmara
and Nefasit stations.
Next to the station was a small snack bar which served fresh fruit
and Coca-Cola....on the day I was there, it was cold. I was told
that this was not necissarily the case at all times.
The Littorina is shown waiting at Ghinda.
While the Littorina paused, people got off the train and formed into
little groups.
