Guard Shack-Station at Km 110.7
The view below was cropped from Tom Johnson's picture of Devil's Doors to shwo the station.
Tom Johnson@1961
Here, I have enlarged that portion of Tom's original picture.
Just before the rail line dissappears to the left, there is a small station.
It was known in the colonial era as guard shack-station at 110.7 Km.
From the profile in Short Description, this is actually at 110.4 Km and
is shown as such on James L. Woodward's map.

The above picture is captioned in le
Ferrovie Coloniali Italiane as a Littorina arriving at the guard shack-station
at Km 110.7 (Una automotrice FIAT giunge al casello-fermata del Km.
110 + 700).. Asmara is in front of the viewer. Although,
the rail is heading toward Massawa. It appears that the 'headlights'
are black. If so, they are covered with the red filters that mark
the back of the train. As such, the railcar is traveling toward Massawa.
It would interesting to note that the (approximately) north side of the
building is in sunlight. As such, the picture must have been taken
somewhere in May to July timeframe. Devil's Doors is to viewer's
the right. Tunnel 28 is behind the viewer.
Charles S.Small@1986
The above picture, cropped from page 42 of Charles S. Small's Far
Wheels II
It depicts a Littorina traveling toward the viewer, in the same direction
of the earlier Littorina. Here, we are looking toward Tunnel 28.
The little resturaunt is behind the 'pepper'
trees. Thus, it is located further down the hill than what I remember.
