Signals

Station Starter on the eastbound platform at Ealing Common

The basic signals and equipment are as in the previous photographs, but with the addition of a Theatre type Route Indicator - the black box below the main signal. This illuminates with a number when the shunt signal below it clears (which allows moves into Ealing Common depot).
At this location a number 1 lit indicates that the points have bee set and the train routed towards the shed roads - further information is given to the driver once the train enters the depot.
If the sign illuminates with a 2 this indicates that the train is routed towards either 19 or 20 roads and the driver may proceed to either the next shunt signal or as far as a fixed 'STOP' board which is the limit of the move the driver will normally make before stabling the train.
