In contrast with the previous picture, this displays the newer type of electrically displayed signal , rather than the older mechanical type. It's function is identical. Above the signal is a Rail Gap Indicator, and below the unique signal plate. Just visible to the left is a metal pipe which carries the air supply for operating equipment such as train stops and point motors - the cock (tap handle) in the vertical position can be used to isolate the air supply.
