Units in Conrail Paint + Yellow /

Original conrail blue with yellow paint and blue CSX logos added to the ends. SD40-2 8803 was the only conrail painted unit to receive the yellow nose treatment.

Units in all conrail schemes, including original blue and white, quality, Operation Lifesaver and Ballast Express. Most units received the reflective orange stick-on numbers.

The Richmond, Fredericksburg, & Potomac scheme of dark blue and light gray. Depending on where the numbers were applied, units received either white numbers on the blue paint, or blue numbers on the light gray paint.

The nysw "yellowjacket" scheme of black and yellow. Units received either blue or black cab numbers.

Trade in units received in various lease schemes. Most are in EMD's burgundy, silver, and gray scheme, but some are all burgundy. The GP60s all wore EMD's blue and white scheme.

When NS was done with the ex-conrail B40-8s that went to NS during the conrail split, CSX acquired them. Several were already painted into NS black paint. All were painted into CSX paint rather quickly.
Units in Amtrak Paint /

When CSX was in the market for more executive train power, they acquired 2 additional F40PH2's. Unlike the first two, 9998 and 9999 wore CSX patches in Amtrak paint for a brief time.
