This winery doesn't open at 11

But the Santa Barbara Winery opens at 10, so that is the first one we visited.

Why would the owner of this pickup need a bell on the dash? Can this photo fit the category, Automotive Brightwork?

Flowers are always in bloom in the Mediterranean-like climate of Santa Barbara.

Some residents even add to their signs, making them more interesting. Is this person carrying a hula hoop, or a small surfboard?

"Don't feed the birds."

If you are interested in photographing the sea birds, go to the very end of Stearns Wharf, where there are no hand railings.  Many birds land on this flat end of the pier and you can photograph them as they glide by or prepare to land.  The background, if shooting east, will be natural sky or mountain tops.  I found my 28 - 300 mm zoom lens fine for filling the frame with the birds, with some cropping.

The same Pelican in a 3-photo series of him landing.  First, gliding in with Coastal Mountains in the background.  Next, tucking wings, flaps down to slow, and finally, landing gear down and flaps down to land on the end of the fishing pier.

(Left)  After my pier walk, I had an excellent lunch at the Enterprise Fish Co. on State Street between the Pier and Hwy. 101.

Stop under one of these signs (above), and within 15 minutes an electric trolley pulls up and takes you downtown for 25 cents.

All Aboard!

If you need free Wi-Fi, Borders downtown can provide that in their coffee shop.
