In 2006, The Portage County Historical Society had a Grand Opening celebration for the Green Bay and Western Caboose 617. The caboose had been placed on a display track a few years earlier, then cleaned and painted, and then it was time for a celebration.
The noon meal was billed as a Genuine Railroad Luncheon. And we didn't have to worry about Rule G today. Everyone had a glass of wine for a toast to the completion of the Caboose. |
The menu choice was from an old dining car menu
Anton (on the right) mentioned that he was partial to the Hungarian Goulash.
The meal was catered by Bernard's and was enjoyed by all.

(. . Anton passed away in September, 2021, and many people miss him and all the help he gave to the village and county and the Historical Society)
