high water in Wisconsin Rapids

high water in Wisconsin Rapids

April, 2019, before Spring run off.
The paper milll switch is on the Wisconsin River bridge,
and there's about a foot and a half of air space under the bridge.
The next week, there was less than a half a foot to spare when the high water came.
.

The winter snow has melted, but it rained up North, which made some spring flooding coming down the River to Wisconsin Rapids.
Mead Rapids View Park had dozens of visitors watching the high water, surging by at 20 miles per hour.
The white line is my kite string in the picture.

.

On the right, First Street is flooding 6 inches deep.

.

Compare that to the quieter times of a Grand Rapids Winter with all of the river bed showing in low water, in 2018
