Mississippi River Railroading

Mississippi River Railroading

We took a short trip to La Crosse and Winona.

This is a lot bigger than the Wisconsin River that is near my home.

.

We went to the Pickwick Mill, a very pretty place in a valley with Autumn colors

.

The mill is full of operable shafts and pulleys.

.

There are many examples of flour and grain sacks.
You can see more about the mill on their web page, Pickwick Mill

.

This wasn't a railfan trip, but I did see trains, many from a distance, and some from way across the river.
This one was captured from a dash camera on the CP southbound of Winona. There was just one CP locomotive on the front, but it was a long train. I guess near 2 miles long.

.

A car was parked by a short driveway to the shore of the river. Either this is a railfan, or someone waiting for the train to pass and clear out of the way.

.

.

A UP was on the rear.
