Trackmobiles in Nekoosa

Trackmobiles in Nekoosa

Nekoosa, Wisconsin, September, 2018

The paper mill has been using trackmobiles instead of switch engines for nearly a year.

.

And I didn't know before this, there are actually 2 trackmobiles in Nekoosa.
This one is not on the rails, and the wheels are getting rusty.

A single gondola is extra braking

CAN DO

.

Some rail cars are from the CN, and some are in-plant cars
like this bulkhead flat to move wood from the pulp wood aging yard to the pulp mill.

.

.

Moving 'up the line' to the former NEPCO paper mill (Nekoosa Edwards Paper Company),
one of the orange switch engines is still around, seen just left of the street.
(Remember the 'old days' when this was the state highway)
The power plant stack and some of the boiler room stands, but the wood room and pulp mill are gone.
On the horizon on the upper right is the Nekoosa mill.

.

It seems the red and white tank cars would be in storage for the corn alcohol processing plant at Necedah.

Cars are also stored in the Port Edwards former wood yard, west of NEPCO. The mainline curve is in the trees to the right.

On the distant horizon of this picture is the ERCO chlorine plant by Nekoosa Junction.
