Spring Snow on the Railroad

Spring Snow on the Railroad

March, 2018. Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, USA

These pictures were taken in late March, and this snow actually melted.
But they could have just as well been taken in mid-April when we got 19 inches on a Friday and Saturday night,
a record breaker when we got more snow than we had all winter.

.

I think this train is the Wood Tick, which usually travels from Wisconsin Rapids to northwestern Wisconsin every evening to collect pulpwood

And its a long one this night, they are pulling cars from the tail of the wye by the quarry.
Even some sand hoppers, and a tank car, which I suspect might also end up in the Rothschild paper mill.

.

But some loads are headed north, and I could guess they came down on the Wood Tick in the morning?
And might be going north to be set out in Junction City and eventually go to Rothschild?

.

And a tank car, which I suspect might end up in the Rothschild paper mill?

.

Even some sand hoppers, maybe catching up with some unit train?

And lumber cars that should go all the way to Superior and eventually get to Canada?

.
