New Year Rail news 2017

Its a new year. Rapids has a colorful EJE loco doing some daily runs to the Biron paper mill.
.

On Jan 1, New Years Day, this Plover switch job will still be moving cars from Plover to the Stevens Point paper mill.
Last year, the news was a big question about an upcoming closing or sale of the Point paper mill. But nothing changed there yet; and rail traffic keeps moving to that mill.

I took down the outdoor Christmas decorations on Sunday, New Year's Day, and heard train horns all day. So I know they were moving along.

I have a quadcopter and a little camera now. But I only fly it on the end of a fishing line so it can't get away. It's not a fancy thing, and I need practice.

I should make plans to visit more friends and relatives, but didn't do so good at that in 2013, and 2014, 2015, and 2016.

I bought a used Canon camera for $12, and it does quite good. Used Canons aren't that readily available. If you want to know what not to buy, just look at all the brands in a pawn shop, its there for a reason. Canons seem to give me clearer pictures, and I can put the Canon Hackers Development Kit in it to get more functions.

If you sent me an email since Summer 2015, consider it lost in the Charter system. (I pay for the bare minimum service, and I sure get that, and less)
If you want to send me an email, please use this address:

and push it all together to make an email address; I give it this way to confuse email harvesters, but that won't do much anyway.
Its also in the reference box on the right of my index page.
I don't look at it very often. The free service is better than my paid service.

For upcoming / continuing local news, in October 2016 the city did utility work preparing to build the Summer 2017 overpass at Hoover Avenue.
This won't affect the railroad tracks much as the city builds a 4-lane bridge over the 2 tracks.
The curve in Hoover will shift, the street will go straight north from here and cross the tracks, and then drop back down and curve left to street level.
And there will be one sidewalk over the tracks when it is done.

I haven't made any changes nor progress on my Flambeau Paper Railroad project. And I think I didn't send a copy to Rich in Texas, I was hoping to improve and correct the century-old story before sending out more CD's.
