Granite for the Green Circle

Granite for the Green Circle

The daily morning train from Plover to Stevens Point travels alongside of Okray Avenue.
.

Most of the cars are paper mill traffic for the Stevens Point mill.
And some refrigerated cars for french fries or onions from McCains Foods.

.

They cross the Little Plover River just south of Whiting, Wisconsin.

.

The view is from the Green Circle Trail. This was the former right of way of the Wisconsin Central P (Portage) line, 60 years ago.
If I would have hurried ahead to the mill work buildings in the distance, I could have seen the train one more time.
The trail is the direct route, whereas the rails go an extra half mile west before swinging back to the original P-line.

.

There's a new sign. I didn't know they were fixing things up. It's been 2 years since I've been here, even though I live only 3 miles away.

.

There's some new granite, or maybe road mat (a local favorite from the pits east of Plover, with some gravel and clay that packs hard.)
