Track Maintenance in Wisconsin Rapids

Maintenance equipment came across the river in Wisconsin Rapids
.

It's been a long time since I have seen a dump truck with hi-rail wheels.

.

The sweeper is cleaning ballast from the top of the ties.
(the dust confused the camera, I should have pre-focused somewhere else first.)

.

Swinging the blade to plow some more back

.

The tamper.
As Roger said back in the 70's, those machines could move tamp more ballast in 5 minutes than he could all day with a shovel and pick.

.

The most amazing part of this job is they actually got all the rail cars out of the east yard for 3 days.
I haven't seen it this empty since the big snow plowing job last Spring.
